The member states, the most powerful agents within the competitive machinery of global capitalism, are propelling an arms race and a spiral of violence. The Western power elites all agree to use hard power in order to secure the world order and the conditions for an efficient capital accumulation but are at the same time at loggerheads with each other in respect to the hierarchy in the creation of this order. The new US administration will presumably contribute nothing to any serious detente in international relations.</p> ER -
