Labour geography focuses on the agency of workers, but neglects a theoretical examination of the concept of work itself, which forms the basis of this agency. Referring to Marx’s concept of work, we attempt to (re)conceptualizes the concepts of work and social reproduction for Labour Geography. This is done with the help of a transversal understanding of work and reproduction beyond functionalist narrow-mindedness, as well as through the understanding of (wage) labour as an activity oriented towards social meaning and empowering space production.
