Der ökonomische Nutzen von Krieg und Rüstungsproduktion

Ökonomen und Ökonominnen haben sich wiederholt mit dem Prosperitätsversprechen von Kriegsökonomien befasst, dem vermeintlichen wirtschaftlichen Nutzen von Kriegen und Nachkriegszeiten, wenn nicht nur die Arbeitslosigkeit sinkt, sondern auch die gesellschaftliche Gesamtnachfrage steigt oder die Überschusskapazitäten, die zu Krisen führen würden, beseitigt werden. Angesichts der Katastrophen und der Vernichtung, die allein der Zweite Weltkrieg gezeitigt hat, scheinen diese Überlegungen inakzeptabel zu sein. Ein Blick in die Geschichte der Politischen Ökonomie zeigt jedoch, dass das nicht davon abgehalten hat, über den Zusammenhang von Kriegsökonomie und Wirtschaftswachstum nachzudenken. Der Beitrag stellt zentrale Beiträge der Politischen Ökonomie vor, die sich dem Phänomen affirmativ oder kritisch zuwenden.
