Prefigurative politics aims to experiment with societal alternatives in the here and now. Using the example of the anti-lithium protests in Extremadura, Spain, this paper examines how prefigurative practices can contribute to a post-extractivist transformation. It highlights both their potential and their limitations: while they provide a space for learning alternative relational practices and post-transformational subjectivities, their influence at the institutional level remains limited. The analysis reflects the tension between prefigurative and state-centred strategies in anti-extractive conflicts.
