The world is undergoing a spatial reconfiguration. Growing protectionism, heightened geopolitical tensions, the rise of the BRICS countries, the crisis in the automotive industry – all this and more is linked to the spatial transformation of capitalist production and labour processes.

The school of Labour Geography, which is critical of capitalism but not capital-centric, views capital as an antagonistic relationship between workers and capitalists: a relationship that is also established and contested in its positioning in space. In PROKLA 220, spatial reconfiguration is discussed from the perspective of Labour Geography, with a particular focus on labour struggles: what struggles are emerging, for example around lithium mining or the privatisation of ports, and how do they influence spatial dynamics in global capitalism?
